It is in this song that we're introduced to this "Land that never was" and learn there is an "erudite child with a cause." The spirits in this land foresee that this erudite child will set them free, but it is not yet clear from what or whom they need to be freed.

Also it should be noted that the fact that this song is called "... *The* Land That Never Was" and the album title is worded "... *A* Land That Never Was" is no mistake.
