NEW YORK -- As the year wound down the Cubby generated little news in the outside world, but according to
freelance publicist Roderick Hairbrux, that's good news. "The Cubby hasn't been selling itself, and that's a
very meaningful action around the holidays. Nor was it wiped out or bailed out or in any other way an
imposition to anybody." This last part raised the ire of the Yuddle squatters who occupy the acreage opposite the illegal Cubby settlement in Great Head, NY. According to Yuddle representatives, the Cubby is "a constant imposition on everybody," and should be wiped off the earth altogether. The Yuddle, it has been observed, show little ability to relax, enjoy life, or do any of the peaceful activities the Cubby pilgrims relish. The Cubby Creatures had no comment, but Roderick Hairbrux could not stop prognosticating that 2009 was going to be huge for the Cubby Creatures. "I mean, the world hasn't even heard 'Jesus Christ, You're Crazy' yet. The Cubby Creatures canon has either just begun or just ended with this EP, but either way or any other way it's a pivotal chunk of the Cubby oeuvre, with some indispensable gems. It's the best-mixed, best-recorded, best-written, best-played, most coherent work the Cubby Creatures have ever created, and I'm so excited for other people besides myself to be impregnated with the joy of 'JCYC.' As Brian Weaver sings in 'Keep in Mind,' [a track from the Cubby Creatures' forthcoming 'Jesus Christ, You're Crazy' EP] 'Everything is fine.'" |
